When a dog has rabies, it may show signs of hydrophobia and photophobia, and will no longer drink water or go outside, preferring to stay in a darkened room. Temperament changes are characterized by mania and increased aggression. This is accompanied by changes in eating, such as omnivory, and loss of control of the body, such as respiratory distress and physical exhaustion, and the dog will die quickly. Dogs with rabies will have a strange personality and become timid. Show manic restlessness, if it is their own master, will seem extraordinarily attached, and even wagging tail begging for mercy, but if it is a stranger will show strong aggression, and even go to bite strangers.
