When a dog has a urinary tract infection, it will more often than not show painful urination, intermittent urine discharge and a red and swollen urethra. If the dog has a severe urinary tract infection, then mucus or pus-like urethral discharge may be seen and necrotic mucosa may be discharged. If you find a condition that resembles a urinary tract infection you should take your dog to a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. You should not give your dog medication casually and blindly.
