The main symptoms of diabetes in dogs are irritability, thirst, excessive urination, gluttony, weakness and lethargy. When the disease is severe, the exhaled breath has a ketone odour. Further progression can be seen in the form of stubborn vomiting and mucousy diarrhoea, which can lead to acidosis and eventually to diabetic coma.
