Initial Symptoms of Distemper

The initial symptoms of distemper are mainly respiratory, manifested as coughing, runny nose, persistent fever, decreased mental appetite, lethargy, increased eye discharge, increased nasal discharge and redness of the eye mucosa. Some dogs will show signs such as thickened foot pads and a red skin rash. The disease also causes pneumonia.
