There are two clinical manifestations of feline eczema, acute and chronic. Acute eczema is characterised by a red rash or papule on the skin, starting on the face, back and belly, and spreading easily to form small blisters. When the blisters break, they become locally eroded and the skin symptoms are aggravated by itching and wetness of the affected area, which makes animals restless and lick and bite the affected area. Chronic eczema is characterised by thickened, mossy, flaky skin over time. Although the moistness of the skin is relieved, the itching remains and may worsen.
