Firstly: Keep the skin clean and dry and insist on daily application of antibacterial creams or sprays on the affected area. Secondly: Wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent your dog from licking itself. Third: If the eczema is severe and accompanied by a septic infection, the dog should be given systemic antibiotics. Most see improvement in about 15 days.
