There are many reasons for a kitten to have blood in its stool. If the cat has not been vaccinated, feline distemper must be investigated. Feline distemper virus is a viral gastroenteritis, which can cause clinical symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and fever in cats during the week. If there is blood in the stool it also needs to be screened for parasites, foreign bodies, gastroenteritis and a specialist hospital is recommended for differential diagnosis.
