Causes of heatstroke in dogs are mainly considered to be caused by prolonged stay in a hot, confined environment, or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight on the head. If your dog experiences this, along with an increase in body temperature, shortness of breath, flushing of the mucous membranes, rapid heartbeat and raging peripheral blood vessels, then your dog is suffering from heatstroke.
