Ringworm is caused by fungal infections, mainly due to a damp environment, wet skin (bathing without blowing dry) and damaged skin caused by the use of substandard bathing gel and combs. Ringworm is found on the face, trunk, limbs and tail in round or oval patches with grey scales and a coarse coat that sheds and breaks off. The cat feels extremely itchy and rubs against various objects; the scales fall off and form bald patches. It is also advisable to take your cat to the vet for treatment advice if you find this lesion on your cat and it is very typical.
