How to deal with ticks on dogs

When there are ticks on your dog, you can remove them by hand with alcohol and tweezers, not by hand, to prevent the mouthparts from being left in your dog and causing secondary infection. The ticks that cannot be detected by the naked eye can be killed with medicine, and shaving is more effective with medicine. Avoiding dogs into bushes or contact with stray dogs is the best way to prevent and control ticks. For some larger ticks you can remove them by hand. Prepare tweezers and alcohol by first rubbing the alcohol on the skin around the tick and waiting three minutes for the tick to die or relax its mouthparts. Be sure not to use your hands when picking, as this can cause the tick’s mouthparts to break off inside the dog and cause a secondary infection.
