Do you need a shot for bleeding scratches from cats

Being scratched by a cat and having a bleeding skin lesion is a condition that requires prompt vaccination. It is also recommended that you first rinse directly with tap water or soapy water, ,to try and flush out any virus that may have entered the wound. Immediately after flushing, rub the skin in and around the wound with iodophor or 75% alcohol to disinfect the area and to kill any virus that may have entered the wound. It is also advisable to take rest after vaccination and avoid straining or participating in strenuous sports; avoid alcohol, strong tea and other stimulating drinks or foods.
