Get a rabies vaccination if you are scratched by a cat. The first thing to do after being scratched by a cat is to clean the wound at home before going for the vaccination. If there is blood in the wound squeeze the blood out, rinse the wound with running water and soapy water alternately for at least fifteen minutes and then disinfect with iodine vapour.
