Diagnosis and treatment of diaphragmatic hernia in dogs

Diaphragmatic hernias in dogs are generally classified as congenital or acquired, with most acquired cases being caused by trauma. The diagnosis is usually made clinically by x-ray and ultrasound. Treatment generally recommends surgery to open the abdominal cavity and remove the contents of the thoracic cavity, non-absorbable threads or hernia spacers to close and hernia hole.
