Once a dog’s paws become red and swollen, the first thing to consider is whether there has been excessive licking of the paws which has led to this problem. Secondly there are many other conditions besides this that can cause redness and swelling of the paws. For example, skin conditions, trauma, allergies, parasites, etc. Usually minor problems may heal on their own, but a visit to the hospital is needed first to confirm the diagnosis.
