Do dogs know they are dogs?

Dogs know they are dogs after scientific research dogs are self-aware and can distinguish themselves from other dogs and can feel their presence. But on the other hand, when dogs are closer to humans, they see themselves as part of the family, and can even feel more like a person than a dog. Although dogs can respond to some human commands, but strictly speaking that does not count as understanding human language, it is as if the owner knows what the dog needs based on the dog’s behavior or bark.
