Origin of the Shar Pei The Shar Pei is native to the area around Dali Town in Nanhai, Guangdong Province, China and is a world famous fighting dog breed. The Shar-Pei has undergone racial mutations during its long breeding years, and enzyme abnormalities have caused hyaluronic acid to accumulate on the surface of the Shar-Pei’s skin, resulting in folds.
The unique appearance of the Shar-Pei is generally 46-56 centimeters in height and 22-27 kilograms in weight. They have a unique appearance, with a hippopotamus-like head, tile-like mouth, greenish-blue tongue and triangular-shaped eyes. The standard Shar Pei should have a short back, a petite body, a head larger than the body, and a black nose.
The Shar-Pei is very loyal The Shar-Pei is resourceful, intelligent, fierce and aggressive. They are loyal to their owners, easily tamed and love to play with children.
