Training dogs to learn to hurdle, a minute to jump more than 50 is not a problem

On TV, we can often see some well-trained dogs, light, gait quickly over the obstacles, and then look at their own lazy dog lying on the ground and sleep, you will not feel a little hate? No need to envy, as long as your dog agility training, they can also become the master of hurdles. Necessary facilities for training: Usually, the obstacle equipment for dog training includes 3 hurdles, each hurdle can be set between 15-30 cm, varying according to the height of the dog. The dog trainer will maintain a distance between him and the dog during training and use the leash to control the dog. When you first start training to cross an obstacle, the empty space under the obstacle rail should be filled with another rail or board to prevent the dog from going through the empty space under the hurdle. Training Step 1. First, keep the training obstacle away from other training facilities to avoid distracting the dog’s attention. The handler pulls the dog with the leash on and runs towards the middle of the hurdle. At a distance of approximately 60 cm from the obstacle, the jumping command is given and the dog and handler cross the hurdle together. Once the movement is successfully completed, it is time for lots of praise and games between you and your dog. This exercise should be repeated many times, and during this entire process of repetition, be careful to always start in the same direction with your dog and never run to the end and then turn around and run back and cross once. 2. Place them in a straight line, about 8 steps apart. After the handler and dog have crossed the first hurdle together, raise the volume and praise him for his performance, then move on and leap over the second hurdle together, again without forgetting to praise and play. 3. But after crossing the second hurdle, give the command to turn to the right. The handler should run the dog a few steps in this direction at a fast pace, then praise your dog and play with him. 4. This time, after crossing the second hurdle, give the dog the command to turn left and continue to run a few quick steps in this direction, again praising and playing with him. 5. This time, place all three hurdles in a straight line, with each hurdle about 8 steps apart. Repeat steps 3 and 4, except that the command to turn right and left is given after the third hurdle is successfully crossed. 6. After the handler and dog have completely crossed the three hurdles, continue to run along the straight line for a few meters and then command the dog to assume a “down” position, which the dog will maintain for 10 seconds. This is done. Next, it is time for the usual praise and games.7. Again, place the three hurdles in a straight line. The handler pulls the dog over the first and second hurdles, then gives the command to the right, turns to the right before the third hurdle and runs quickly for a few meters, followed by the same praise and game. 8. But this time give the command to the left after crossing the first and second hurdles.9. If the dog shows happiness and confidence, repeat the entire process from step one to step eight. But this time, the handler should not cross the obstacle with the dog, you just walk over the side of the hurdle, but be careful not to wrap the leash around the top of the hurdle.10. The three hurdles are placed in a straight line. The handler pulls the dog, but the handler only goes around from one side of the barrier, and all three hurdles are completed by the dog crossing alone. The handler then leads the dog back to the starting point. This time the dog is allowed to stand to the right of the handler and once again cross all obstacles alone. The dog remains on the right side of the handler throughout the exercise. The sooner the handler begins to lead the dog on either side of the hurdle, the easier the training becomes. If the dog is happy and comfortable with Step 10, the handler can repeat Steps 3 through 8 at this point, but note that for each step, the dog should be on the right side of the handler. When the dog is happy with the commands and jumps throughout the training, the handler can remove the bars and boards from underneath the fence until the dog is able to cross the fence with only one bar set up. Now that the dog is ready to complete the exercise, the handler can remove the leash from the dog’s neck and ask the dog to complete the exercise step by step from the first step without the leash. During this process, the handler is not in full control of his dog and if the dog runs away, he is put back on the leash and continues the exercise with the leash in place. If there is a mistake in the training process, the handler should never hesitate to start the training over from where it began before the mistake. Note that there are two words that are most vital in all hurdle training, and those are praise and play. It is not necessary to stress their importance many times, one can fully feel that praise and game are two things that can make the dog experience endless in training.
