Why dogs should not eat chocolate

The theobromine in chocolate can cause poisoning in dogs. The higher the purity of the chocolate the more likely it is that the dog will be poisoned, and puppies can be poisoned even if they eat chocolate that is not of high purity. This usually results in diarrhoea, vomiting, emotional excitement, etc. In severe cases, death can occur due to cardiovascular failure such as cardiac arrhythmia.
