Drooling in dogs is usually seen when the weather is hot and the dog loses heat through the tongue, so saliva will naturally flow down. When dogs are excited they will stimulate salivary glands to secrete and saliva will naturally become more frequent, and dogs are also known to drool after exercise. Drooling can also occur when a dog is ill.
