When a dog is bitten, if the injury is not serious, first remove the hair from the injured area and its surroundings, use plenty of water or saline and rinse the wound for at least five minutes. After rinsing, disinfect the wound and apply antibacterial medication, bandage the wound with an Elizabethan ring if necessary. If there is a lot of bleeding apply pressure with gauze to stop the bleeding and take to hospital for treatment.
