Early application of antibiotics (e.g. penicillin, streptomycin, etc.), together with symptomatic treatment, is important to prevent secondary bacterial infections and to rehabilitate the sick dog. The development of the disease can be controlled by high-dose injections of New Asia Canine Quintuple Anti-High Immunity Serum after the onset of clinical signs. A high dose of high immune serum given during the initial onset of distemper will allow the body to build up sufficient antibodies to prevent the onset of clinical signs for therapeutic purposes. In the mid to late stage of the disease where clinical signs of distemper are evident and neurological signs appear, it is mostly difficult to cure the disease even with the injection of distemper high immune serum.
