There are many causes of epilepsy in dogs and so far medical research is not very clear. However, most cases are caused by damage to the nerve or brain tissue of the dog. Persistent high fever, distemper virus infection, poisoning and other acute causes may or may not lead to symptoms of secondary epilepsy in dogs.
