Poisoning will result in diarrhoea, vomiting, salivation, laboured breathing, frequent pulse, anaemia, the appearance of bloody stools, general muscle tension, increased body temperature, urinary incontinence and, in severe cases, coma or death. The main signs of encephalitis in dogs are excitement, restlessness and panic; there may also be signs of depression, unresponsiveness, ataxia, limb weakness and nystagmus. Regardless of the symptoms, it is important not to blindly treat the dog yourself, but to hand it over to a professional hospital for examination before treatment.
