Pneumonia in cats is usually the result of an uncontrolled and untreated upper respiratory tract infection and a tracheobronchial infection. It usually manifests as depression, loss of appetite, increased body temperature, accompanied by coughing, panting, variable depth of breathing, cyanosis of the mucous membranes, purulent discharge from the nose, abnormal breath sounds on auscultation, and exercise intolerance. Early detection and early treatment is recommended to avoid delay.
