The onset of salt poisoning in cats is characterised by initial excitement, aimless wandering and screaming. Cats with food poisoning may be comatose, hindquarters paralysis, weakness, haematuria and black faeces. Rat poisoning, ingested for a few minutes to a few hours, vomiting, foaming at the mouth and also kidney failure with liver failure. It is usually difficult for the owner to judge such problems and it is advisable to go to the vet promptly if a problem arises.
