Redness and swelling of the cat’s anus may be due to traumatic infection at the anus, caused by the cat rubbing its anus, parasitic infection, anal infection or frequent diarrhoea, etc. Firstly, it is recommended that the owner checks if there is any obvious trauma to the anus and takes the cat for treatment promptly if there is. Whatever the case, once the cat is found to be rubbing its anus, it is recommended to stop it immediately to avoid more serious infection and take the cat to the vet for examination and treatment.
