It is normal for puppies to have relaxed eye muscles during deep sleep, and the white part of the eye can be seen at the eyelid opening. In light sleep, the eyes are in a semi-closed state and the eyeballs will involuntarily march forward. The eyes will roll upward, exposing the white part of the eye. If you are awake while rolling your eyes and they last for a very long time, this is important because of eyelid muscle dysplasia or other problems and needs to be brought to the hospital.
