The tortoiseshell cat is a native cat and is one of the native cats in China. Tortoiseshell cats are usually female cats. Tortoiseshell is not actually a breed of cat, but the colour of the cat’s coat, which is generally a mixture of black, yellow and chant. Tortoiseshell cats, because their fur colour is very similar to that of the sea turtle Tortoiseshell, are therefore called Tortoiseshell cats.
