Not necessary. Dogs dissipate heat mainly through their tongues, ears, limbs and paws. The hair on the fleshy pads of the paws can be cut short as appropriate, but there is no need to shave them. High summer temperatures and strong UV rays can easily lead to sunburn if shaved too short, and direct skin contact with airborne dust and bacteria can easily induce skin diseases.
