The starting dose of medium and long acting insulin is 0.25-0.5U/kg, pay attention to ketoacidemia, prevent hypoglycaemia, measure blood glucose every two hours to develop a feeding schedule and blood glucose curve to figure out a regular amount of food and insulin. Later in the day eat prescription food and insulin shots to maintain.
