How to train your dog to pee and poo

To potty train your dog: 1. Lay newspaper all over the area where you want your dog to go potty. This is because dogs will not be so smart as to defecate and urinate directly on the newspaper the first time. After you have encouraged him to defecate on one of the newspapers, his training memory will be “newspaper-defecation-encouragement”, which is the first step to success. 2. 10-20 minutes after feeding or after an activity, guide your dog gently to the toilet. Gently guide your dog to the toilet. Close the door and allow him to move around the newspaper covered area while verbally encouraging him to defecate. 3. Do not physically disturb him once he has made the intention to defecate, but reward him verbally at the first opportunity. For example, “Good!” 4. Once he has finished defecating on the newspaper, continue to give gentle encouragement by stroking his head and back with your hand. The aim is to get the dog to like the behaviour, to remember it and to repeat it. 5. During the training period, if the dog is able to defecate on the newspaper, gradually reduce the number of newspapers to a block of one, and the dog will still go to the toilet in that position. Try to repeat the training routine at regular times each day and eventually the dog will voluntarily go to the toilet spot and defecate in the area of that newspaper.
