The number of days after de-sexing a cat to remove the ring depends on the sex of the cat. Male cats are recommended to wear the Eliza ring for about 5-7 days after surgery. Female cats are recommended to wear the head collar for around 10-15 days after surgery. Because the incision during de-sexing surgery in male cats is at the scrotum, the incision is small and the recovery time is quick. Whereas for female cats, the incision during de-sexing surgery is in the abdomen and the abdominal cavity needs to be opened at the same time, the wound is slightly larger compared to male cats and the recovery time will be extended accordingly.
