Dogs can use de-worming drops as a precaution before going outside to reduce the chances of infection. Insist on daily vacuuming in the home, including carpets, upholstered tools, skirting boards and basements. Steam clean regularly, especially in areas where owners and dogs sleep. Reduce or prohibit your dog from playing in areas of heavy grass and trees. Wash the dog’s and owner’s bedding at least once every two to three weeks. Special worming collars can be worn for dogs. Many pooper scoopers are afraid to walk their dogs when they hear that they can get ticks, but don’t worry too much, as long as you take precautions, your dog can avoid getting ticks. If your dog is already infected with ticks, it is not as difficult to get rid of them as you might think if you treat them properly in the first place.
