Cats with urinary tract infections will often go to urinate in the early stages, but no or only a small amount of urine is passed. Secondly, because of the itching and pain in the urethra during urination, the cat will show a particularly noticeable licking of the urethral opening. Licking of the urethra by the cat may lead to a purulent infection of the cat’s genitals, breaking down, crusting or even complete blockage of the urethra. In addition, the cat will also show some signs of blood and pus discharge, poor spirits and increased body temperature.
