Early signs of encephalitis in dogs

Clinical signs vary depending on the location of the inflammation in the brain. When the inflammatory lesions are far from the cerebral cortex and are small in extent, the clinical signs are mild, with impaired consciousness being the most prominent. Sick dogs may become agitated or highly depressed, or even unaware of their owners, some barking continuously and running aimlessly.
