Can puppies get rabies?

If a puppy has been at home, has not been outside and has not been bitten, the chances of it getting rabies are low. This is because rabies is transmitted through saliva and not through the mother’s placenta. Also, dogs over 4 months of age should always be brought in for vaccination as rabies is a serious zoonotic disease.
