1. Advantages of the Border Collie’s personality 1) Intelligence. This is the greatest strength of the Border Collie. The Border Collie’s IQ is listed at the top of the canine IQ rankings, and this is where most pet lovers start to get to know the Border Collie. But even in humans, IQs vary widely. The same side shepherd can’t be generalized. 2) High obedience. Just like a smart child is not necessarily obedient. The actual fact is that you can find a lot of people who are not able to get a good deal on a lot of things. Dogs are in the genus Canidae, the carnivorous order of mammals in the phylum Chordata, but in the process of evolving and being bred by humans, many breeds have lost the concept of unity and clear hierarchy that pack animals should have, and the Border Collie still maintains this character. Internally, no matter what fights there have been, externally they are very consistent and have a one-call effect. Owners who have had more than 2 Border Collies at the same time will know this first hand. 4) Passionate and cautious. The Border Collie is very enthusiastic about people, except for the normal care of the puppies by the nursing mother, and will never be aggressive towards strangers. The ability to judge on their own (i.e., non-unaware puppies) will never get lost following a stranger, and although they are enthusiastic about people, they are not unreserved about strangers, which is one of the Border Collie’s better personalities. 5) Other advantages. Responds quickly and has perfect bounce. The Border Collie is suitable for Frisbee and agility training precisely because they have the characteristics of being responsive and bouncy. 2. Disadvantages of Border Collie personality 1) Intelligence. The IQ plateau would have been the biggest advantage of the Border Collie, but with everything there is a downside. For example, where other breeds can be kept, the intelligent Border Collie may not be kept. 2) Timidity. The Border Collie is able to be a powerful force on its own turf with its intelligence, but almost 50% or more of them even experience incontinence after being scared. Even the larger adult Border Collie, in the face of strangers in unfamiliar places, will purse their ears and even turn over their bellies to show complete submission 3) high energy. The Border Collie is very energetic and requires a relatively large amount of exercise. The owner needs to provide them with enough space and time to move around.
