The head of the Longhaired Chihuahua has an apple-shaped skull, while the Butterfly’s head is smaller, covered in a short coat, with a moderately wide skull that gets thinner and thinner in the front part of the head. The eyes of the Longhaired Chihuahua are large and round, do not stand out, and are dark brown, jewel or bright; while the eyes of the Butterfly are nuclear dark brown with black eye margins. The ears of both the Longhair Chihuahua and the Butterfly are vertical, the Chihuahua has large, upright ears that stand up when stressed, while the Butterfly has droopy hair at the tips of its ears of appropriate length. The coat of the Longhaired Chihuahua is soft and flat, long and curly; the coat of the Butterfly Dog is shiny and silky with a long tail. The tail of the Longhaired Chihuahua is medium in length and lifted up or outward; the tail of the Butterfly Dog has a high tail, like a chinchilla, and is kept trimmed.
