Dogs that cover their faces with their front feet may simply be scratching or wiping their faces. If the dog is compulsively and frequently showing these actions, you may want to consider if the dog is suffering from some chronic disease, such as dog rash, dog eye irritation by something or even dog eye infection. Animals perceive things in a more elementary and primitive way than humans, although they do not have more advanced cognitive abilities than humans, but this does not mean that dogs are emotionless and do not respond to human emotions.
