What breed of dog is Hachikong historically, the Hachikong was an Akita. He was a purebred white Akita dog who was adopted by Professor Eizaburo Ueno, who left work late every day and waited at the station every night for his master to come home. After the accidental death of his master, Hachiko continued to wait for him at the station every day for nine years. However, in the movie “Hachikō, the Faithful Dog”, Hachikō was played by a Japanese Shiba Inu when he was a child. Shiba Inu and Akita are both native Japanese breeds, and they look very much alike when they are young, but after they grow up, Akita is bigger than Shiba Inu, which is still very distinguishable.
