A dog’s hearing has a range of about 20 meters, which is much more sensitive than human hearing. The average hearing range of a normal young person is 20-20,000 Hz, while the average hearing range of a normal strong dog is 15-65,000 Hz. It seems that dogs can hear a much wider range of sounds than humans, and can even hear ultrasound and infrasound that humans cannot hear. Because dogs can hear high-frequency sounds and low-frequency sounds that humans cannot hear, certain sounds can be so uncomfortable to dogs that they jump up, get agitated or bark as a result. The sound of thunder, the sound of vacuum cleaners, fireworks and firecrackers will make dogs feel more anxious and fearful.
