If the dog’s hair is only slightly tangled, the owner can use a comb to comb it through. Locate the tangled hair and use the comb to slowly comb the hair from the tips to the roots to untangle the hair. When you get to a badly tangled hair, you can spray a canine smoothing agent on it and continue combing. If the tangles are so severe that the dog cannot be combed out even after spraying the smoothing agent, the owner may consider cutting the tangled hair directly with scissors. This may result in an unattractive coat, but the owner can wait until the hair grows back to trim it.
