Whether a foreign body in the cat’s stomach will be naturally expelled depends mainly on the nature, shape and location of the foreign body. If it is a stomach stone or some special-shaped foreign body, it is difficult to be excreted through natural excretion. If the foreign body is lodged in the pylorus or duodenum, which is narrow and thin, it cannot be excreted naturally either. As the foreign body is likely to injure the gastrointestinal tract during peristalsis, it is recommended to take your cat to the hospital for examination to determine whether surgery, enema, vomiting or self-expulsion is required depending on the shape and location of the foreign body.
