Why do dogs bark?

Barking may be due to separation anxiety and dogs will bark to let off steam. Barking may be a sign that the dog wants to play or that the dog is in need. Sometimes a dog’s barking is a warning to intruders not to trespass on their territory. Dogs also bark when they want to seek their owner’s attention in the hope that they will get it.
