You can’t tell if your dog has a fever by touching it. You can use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the anus to determine whether the fever, the specific method is to lift the dog’s tail root piggyback, and then insert the thermometer 1/3 cord slowly into the anus, 3 minutes later removed to see the results. The normal anal temperature for a dog is between 34.7°C and 39.2°C, which can fluctuate throughout the day, but not by more than 1°C. If it exceeds the normal body temperature then the dog has a fever and early medical attention is recommended.
