Before your dog goes into labour you should have scissors, hemostats, tissues, pee pads, thread, tincture of iodine and ear wash balls. However, it is important to look out for any signs of difficult labour and if so you need to go to hospital to avoid risking the lives of both dog and puppy. If the birth comes out smoothly, many bitches will handle the puppies themselves without much other treatment.
