What to do if your dog’s foot pads are injured

If your dog has accidentally cut itself with a sharp object and is bleeding profusely, the owner should apply pressure to the bleeding wound with cotton for about a minute. If the cut is small, check for foreign objects in the wound after the bleeding has stopped and if so remove them immediately and use a powder to stop the bleeding, keep the wound dry and wrap it with a bandage etc. to prevent dirt from entering and causing infection. If the cut on the pad of the foot is deep, it will usually cause a lot of bleeding. A vet should be called to do stitches to promote healing and avoid heavy bleeding.
