Treatment is similar to that of a cat bite. First flush the wound with soapy water or water to squeeze out the blood, which should take about 15 minutes. The wound should then be disinfected with iodine or alcohol and then taken to a vaccination centre where the wound will be assessed and the appropriate treatment, such as rabies vaccination or serum, will be administered as prescribed by the doctor.
