What kind of dog is a guide dog?

Guide dogs are admirable working dogs that are highly trained to act as the ‘eyes’ for the blind. Guide dogs are usually Labradors, Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds. These three types of dog are gentle and stable, intelligent and well behaved, loyal and particularly responsible. Because of these advantages, they are very popular and are great as companion dogs, even if they are not used as guide dogs.
