A bulge a little below the dog’s rib cage may be an umbilical hernia, which can grow in some puppies and is formed when a natural hole or cavity in the body does not close properly and some fatty tissue or intestinal segments fall into it. Most of them will disappear as they grow, but if they get bigger they may affect their health and even cause necrosis of the intestines inside, and they will need to go to hospital.
